Intelligently cross-linked and increasingly automated production as well as IT-based communication are radically changing the traditional industries. At that, strategic partnerships, co-operations and joint ventures are part of the necessary condition for building the so-called “smart factory”.
The production industries are active and successful in the process of reinventing themselves. After the difficult years at the beginning of the millennium and the worldwide finance crisis, the economy is now booming again. Here, the term “Industry 4.0” is not only referring to the so-called “Web 2.0”, but also stands for a new period of economic prosperity – especially in Germany. Firstly formulated in 2011 at the Hannover Industry Fair, the term Industry 4.0 got a program of the German Union of Science1.
The company generation Industry 4.0 guarantees the complete individualization of its products and the cross-linkage of customers and employees via all communication and information channels at the same time realizing a flexible mass production. The most important target of Industry 4.0 is to preserve the competitive ability for the traditional industry countries through that integrative technology level.
The customer, the business partner, the supplier, the contractee – they all will exert more and more influence on the typical company processes. For that and at the latest as of today, the concern group and also the mid-sized or even the small company should deal with the upcoming frame conditions of the economy. It is really more than only investments in new hard and software.
Industry companies and so-called industrial service companies will build strategic partnerships or strategic co-operations. A number of companies will also merge.
