This is the biggest mistake MBIs make when it comes to succession

From over 25 years of experience in M&A, strategy and company succession, I can say the following. Every MBI candidate, but also other company buyers, should realize and remember this.

According to the media and various institutes, there are allegedly 250,000 open SME company successions. In our M&A experience, there are perhaps 1,000 SME companies per year when a deal is finalized. This includes internal family successions.

We estimate that at least 90% of all MBIs fail to acquire a company, perhaps even more.

This is not an easy topic and requires well-experienced, entrepreneurial foresight. And of course, equity plays an important role.
