Hamburg has always had an international character. Today, this is still reflected in the ownership structure of many companies in and around Hamburg.

Therefore, Mr. Popp’s talks were marked by international possibilities and opportunities but also the critical aspects and challenges. The focus was on companies with foreign owners on the one hand and on companies with German owners and foreign subsidiaries on the other.

The question of when a company acquisition, a company sale or a strategic partner is the right way into the future could often not be answered clearly.

In all cases, however, the starting positions were partly diffuse or complex constellations and interdependencies. Then, during the analysis, the critical aspects could have been worked out and suggestions made for the strategic approach.

In the talks, Mr. Popp often noticed that foreign business owners were more often open to strategic partners than German owners.

At the end of the talks it was clear that global political changes also result in entrepreneurial changes and that companies have to respond to them.
